How to apply for a duplicate driving permit in Uganda

Whether your full driver’s license is lost, stolen or damaged, you can easily replace it and obtain a duplicate once you follow instructions below. You should note that for lost, stolen or damaged driving permit that are expired, a renewal fee will be required unlike when it is missing but still valid.

Requirements if you have lost or misplaced your licence

The mandatory documents you will need for this process:

1. Valid national ID for Ugandan applicants. We also accept a duplicate/copy of the ID, a photocopy of the ID, or a NIRA verification letter if you don’t have any of the previous documents
   *For non-Ugandans: valid passport, valid visa — and, if applicable; work permit, dependant pass, or student pass (original copies)
   *For refugees: refugee card issued by the office of the prime minister (original copy)
2. Proof of payment (payment registration number); how to generate a payment registration slip
3. Police report
4. Fully filled-out driving license application form (the medical form is not mandatory/required)
