How To Find Your URA TIN Number If You Forgot It

If you forgot your TIN Number, follow the instructions below to check and recover it online. The tax identification number allows you access to most services offered by the Uganda Revenue Authority, the government tax body. From paying related taxes including VAT, PAYEE, Stamp duty to motor vehicle registration, land title change of ownership, KCC trading license payment, etc, a TIN number is mandatory

If you can’t find your TIN number on that piece of paper where you wrote it, or are simply unable to locate the email message containing your 10-digit unique number, this article will guide you through the process of recovering your TIN. All you need is to follow the instructions below.

How to check your TIN using AskURA App

  • Download AskURA app from Google play store
  • Install the “AskURA” on your smartphone
  • Launch the “AskURA” app
  • Tap the “Tax Profile” button
  • Enter your “Phone Number” under Tax ID
  • Select “Individual” under Tax Type
  • Tap the “Proceed” button

The TIN Number associated with that phone number will be displayed and you will have recovered it.

Kindly note that t AskURA app will display the TIN associated with the number you enter. In case you changed your phone number, you must use the old number that you used at the time of registering your tax identification number.

Alternatively, you can use your email address (the same email address that you used when registering your tax ID), or even your National ID NIN number.

How to Recover Your TIN on URA Website

  • Visit https://www.ura.go.ug/
  • Click on the “My TIN” link
  • Enter your “Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Maiden Name, and Registered email address”
  • Click on the “Submit Query” button

Your Tax ID number will be sent to your associated email address assuming you submit the correct details.

It is important to note that if you change your phone or email ID, you must use the ones you used during registration. Failure will mean visiting any URA branch office and asking for help, where an amendment will have to be requested.
